Don't Be Fooled by Imitations!
|
| |
|
Accept no imitations! All beads from Venice are made using the age-old process of
hand forming a single glass bead on a copper wire and then dissolving the wire out of the bead
using nitric acid. Venice and Murano are the only places in the world using this
centuries old process, which leaves the bead hole crystal clean all the way through. |
| |
|
"Imitation" Venetian beads are mass produced (in places like China
or India), with several beads formed on a single, steel mandrel that
has been coated with a liquid releasing agent. When the beads are removed from the mandrel (by sliding them off
thanks to the dried releasing liquid), the hole is coated with white powder residue. This is a sure
sign the beads are not authentic Venetian beads and were not made in Venice or Murano.

It is our desire for bead lovers all over the world to know how to tell when a bead is being misrepresented
as coming from Venice or Murano: |
| |
| If a bead's hole has white releasing powder in it - IT WAS NOT MADE in VENICE or MURANO. |
| |
| If the beads are strung together
and sold on a strand - THEY WERE NOT MADE in VENICE or MURANO. |
| |
| If a bead is claimed to be "Venetian - made by Murano Masters outside of Italy" - DON'T BELIEVE IT. |
| |
|
Following these guidelines will ensure you are buying genuine Venetian Beads instead of an inexpensive
imitation. |
